Cost of a Church Wedding at St Mary’s is £567 (if you live in the parish) or £621 (if you live outside the parish)
The figure for marrying as of January 2024 breaks down as follows:
If you both live in our parish (£567):
- Marriage service in church: £531
- Publication of banns of marriage: £36
If one of you lives in another parish (£621):
- Marriage service in church: £531
- Publication of banns of marriage (in parish you are being married in): £36
- Publication of banns of marriage (in different parish that one of you lives in and paid to that church): £36
- Banns certificate from the other parish: (and paid to that church) £18
This is basic legal fee includes the cost of the vicar, the church, calling your banns, a banns certificate, lighting and all administration. (After your wedding, when it has been registered at the relevant register office, you will also pay the register office for your marriage certificate – the certificate is no longer issued by churches).
This required fee has ancient origins and ensures your church can maintain essential services like weddings, christenings, funerals and all kinds of other ministries for you and your community.
If you would like extras – like musicians and bells ringers there is a fee which we pay directly to them for their time .
