On Monday 22nd June, news broke in the media of St Mary’s new Narnia carvings being made as part of its Curious Carvings project to restore the stonework of the north nave clerestory.
Media outlets which have covered the story include The Church Times, The i newspaper, the Yorkshire Post, BBC Radio Humberside, the Yorkshire Evening Post, Just Beverley, BBC News, and The Scarborough News. We are thrilled that the project has brought the heritage of St Mary’s to the attention of people in the town, region and across the country. The story also prompted some excellent headlines including “Mane Attraction”! See a selection of that coverage in our media centre here:
Our announcement about the Narnia carvings has also reached over 30,000 people on social media. It’s pleasing to be increasing awareness of the extraordinary heritage of St Mary’s in this way. We will share further coverage of the story as it is published and broadcast in the coming days and weeks.
