WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO (January to April 2026)
As well as getting together for games and crafts and for friendship and thinking about the big questions such as ‘what is Easter all about?’ we have done all sorts of different activities and crafts, here is just a taster….
FYI – CLCGB is divided into sections based on age:
- Martins: 4–7 years
- Y Team: 7–10 years
- JTC (Jump to the Challenge): 10–13 years
- Seniors: 13–21 years
At the start of the year our Seniors walked around Beverley looking for cryptic landmarks before returning for hot dogs.
Seniors, JTC and Martins all made a visit to Beverley fire station in March. Our members got the chance to sit in the engines, try on the uniform and speak to staff who demonstrated how to use some of the equipment. Thank you to Alex, Harry, Zac and Ellis for allowing us to visit!
Leading up to Mother’s Day and Easter our members got creative making cards, Easter buns and also got green fingered potting plants and decorating planters.
Over the Easter break some members of our band attended a concert at Hull Minster to watch Lionel and Jacob perform with the 150
Regiment Royal Logistic Corps Band. This was a fantastic experience for our younger members and we all had an amazing time
watching the performance!
UPCOMING EVENTS
Friday 26th – Sunday 28th June
Y-Team and JTC joint camp, hosted at Raywell Scout Camp.
During the weekend we will be making trips to Flamingo land and Big Fun.
Friday 10th – Sunday 12th July
Festival of Drill and Music/125 year anniversary camp, Raywell Scout Camp This weekend will be open to Y-Team, JTC, Seniors and all band sections. Consent forms will be sent out soon and the cost of the weekend will be £15.
BAND NEWS
Since the start of the new year, the band has been enjoying learning some new music as we prepare our programme for the summer proms concert. We’ve also been busy practising our drill for the St George’s Day parade in York. This parade will be a first for some of our younger members, and we’re really excited to see them performing through the streets of York at the end of the month.
In February our Junior Band represented our brigade at Beverley and East Riding Golf Club, where the Mayor of Beverley, Councillor Alison Healy, hosted her Civic Dinner in support of our minibus appeal. Our leaders are very proud of their hard work and commitment in our performances and through this event an amazing £2,045 was raised!
Thanks to the success of our development band, several of our junior members have made great progress and are now settling into the senior band really well. As a result, we’ve decided to pause the development band sessions on Thursday evenings for now,
REHEARSAL SCHEDULE
6:00pm – 6:45pm | Junior Band Includes focused practice in sections (Brass, Mallets, and Drums) as well as occasional drill rehearsals to develop members skill to march with instruments.
7:00pm – 8:45pm | Senior Band We will begin seniors with 30 minutes of sectional rehearsals followed by a full band rehearsal for the rest of the evening.
